Whether you invite professional keynoters, subject matter experts, breakout session presenters, or a combination of these speakers to your events, you invest a great deal of time and money. The stakes are high for delivering exceptionally compelling, engaging, memorable and actionable content. So, how can you maximize event.
Packed with beautiful beaches, a robust arts and culture scene, and a bustling nightlife, it’s easy to see why Los Cabos is one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations. Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, two cities at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, make up Los Cabos. Between the cities’ natural beauty and myriad activities, it’s a perfect destination for memorable incentive trips and.
At the beginning of my career as a meeting planner I remember feeling burdened by attendees with dietary restrictions. I shamefully recall rolling my eyes or audibly sighing. The lists seemed to get more specific and longer, going far beyond your common peanut allergy.
What lessons are to be learned through the documentaries recently released about the doomed Fyre Festival?
From the planners’ point of view, SHW event managers say, there were so many warning flags predicting disaster from the event’s beginnings. All the warnings are discussed in both Netflix’s “Fyre” and Hulu’s “Fyre Fraud.”

I love when the Pantone Color of the Year comes out each year.
Honestly, it doesn’t change my life one way or another. It’s merely an interesting curiosity for someone who is inspired by color. It also can explain when I notice a surge in a particular hue out in the world.
I ADORE 2019’s color, Living Coral. The folks at Pantone explain that this.
We were lucky to work with clients in London two different times in 2018. It’s a great city for planning amazing programs, and it’s one of SHW President Brett Robertson’s favorite cities.
He and his wife recently returned from a trip from old Blighty, extolling its world-class public transportation system and famed English sensibility. Here are some of Brett’s recommended highlights:

I was 15 when I spent the first of five summers working at magical Camp Orkila in the beautiful San Juan Islands. Starting as a volunteer counselor, I quickly was promoted to a paid position as laundry lady-- much to the amazement of my mom, who’d never known me to run a washing machine. I enjoyed the camp environment and taking on.
Looking for a dish to wow your guests this holiday season? Traveling for business can at once be fun and exhausting, interesting and monotonous, enriching and exhausting.
I’m always on the lookout for tools that will ease time at the airport, allow me to work comfortably on the plane, or make a hotel stay as comfortable as possible. Here are some of my personal favorites that enhance the experience of.
San Francisco is one of our favorite cities to operate programs, and just might extend our travel for an extra day or two to explore. Here are some of our go-to highlights when we’re in the City by the Bay.
1. Land’s End Trail
By far the best hiking trail in the city. It will make you feel like you’re hiking a rustic coastal trail, not a city path. Trails intertwine along the cliffside from.
TEDxSeattle returns to McCaw Hall on November 17, with a “Tall Order” of ideas worth sharing.
A slate of compelling local speakers is sure to spark thoughtful discussions and connect people in meaningful ways. That’s why we were thrilled to continue our partnership with TEDxSeattle to help expand the reach and effectiveness of this event.
We hope we’ll see you there.
Not sure what.
In the events industry, there’s no shortage of audio, video, and lighting companies to choose from. One big decision event planners often struggle with is when to use a venue’s in-house A/V provider versus when to venture outside and hire a third-party resource.
As with anything, there are benefits and drawbacks to both options. Event planners need to understand what is most.
Nothing says October more than a spooky haunted house! Not only is it a fun fall staple, but an imaginative ghostly manse also can be a great way to promote your business or treat your employees and their families.
At SHW, we love working with our clients to design and produce creative and interactive haunted houses, appropriate for all ages. You can check out one of our favorite haunted.
Thoughtful lighting design can make a huge impact on the success of an event. Not only can lighting transform the look of a space, it can amplify your message, set a mood for your audience, and infuse energy into the room.
As event planners, we look for ways to engage as many senses as possible to create an impactful experience. Unfortunately, many planners overlook lighting as one.
At SHW, we love traveling to work with clients across the globe. Recently, we traveled to Tokyo for a client’s annual meeting. Tokyo is the most populous city in the world, and a hotspot for technology innovations, food, culture, and more. Here are some of our top tips for planning your next trip.
1. Japan is a foodie delight.
It is way more than sushi. Delight in the street vendors! My top.
The tales of traffic woes in Portland are true. But don’t let that keep you from visiting this wonderful city.
As the 22nd fastest-growing metropolitan area in the country, Portland is growing at a good pace. With about 30,000 new folks moving to the area each year, the impact is construction detours, road closures, and more cars. Traffic is no fun.
One of the joys of Portland is how easy it.
As event planners, we know the right hotel can make or break a program. With so many to choose from—and each unique in its own way—matching clients to ideal hotels based on service level, group size, location, rates, and desired experience is a complex process.
Individual travelers now opt more for the “wow” factor when choosing a place to stay. Should corporate groups consider these same.
If someone asks what gives Portland its friendly yet quirky reputation, goats come to mind.
Portland was the epicenter of the pygmy goat yoga craze a few years back, and there’s a beloved community of 14 goats that is a must-see stop for locals and tourists alike. The latest on Portland’s goat craze? Goatgrams. A service where two dwarf goats show up with a bouquet of.
At SHW we love that our event-planning jobs take us all over the world! Recently we were in Mexico City for a medical research conference. As the fifth largest city in the world, Mexico City is a true melting pot of cultures with an endless variety of food, historical sites, and activities. Here are a few of our favorites:
1. Take Uber – but watch out for rush hours!
Driving (and parking) in.

John Ellard recently joined the SHW team as SVP of Creative & Production. Over the past 25 years, he’s worked on some amazing programs any event planner would love to be involved with: Cannes Film Festival, SXSW, and Microsoft Xbox events, as well as many concerts, brand activations,.
Whether you’re traveling or want to get out in your home city, team-building activities are a great way to get your staff out and about—and summer is prime season. Fast-paced race around the city? Relaxing day in the sun? There’s something for every organization! Here are some of our favorite outdoor team building exercises.
SHW is honored to be named to Seattle Business Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work in Washington for 2018.

Anyone who’s travelled, even domestically, has most likely been the victim of a dreaded tourist trap. You know what I’m talking about. They’re the kind of place that’ll sell you an Eiffel Tower keychain for €15. Found surrounding a major attraction, you’ll get inflated prices, stodgy food and service, menus plastered with pictures of the food (which.
At SHW, we love to travel! This month, one of our favorite stops was Park City, Utah for a fun incentive trip with one of our clients. Not only is the town beautiful, but full of hidden gems and fun activities. While it’s famous for being the winter place to see and be seen on the slopes and at Sundance Film Festival, it’s also a blast in spring and summer. Here are a few of our favorite spots:
