Position Summary

The Accounting Assistant plays an important and essential role on SHW’s Accounting Team. The Accounting Assistant facilitates getting accurate transactional level data (both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable) into the QuickBooks Accounting System in a variety of ways using technology, attention to detail and communication skills. This position is often a representative of SHW’s Accounting Department, communicating both with SHW’s customers and employees.


Job Responsibilities

  • Accurately apply customer payments in QuickBooks and internal database

  • Process customer credit card payments

  • Review employee expense reports and supporting receipts for compliance with company policy and record expenses in General Ledger

  • Account for employee company credit card expenditures

  • Maintain accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and accounts payable files

  • Review all vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment

  • Compile checks for signature and distribute/mail as appropriate

  • Process collection of past-due customer invoices

  • Perform various data entry into QuickBooks, including recording invoices from the SHW operating system correctly into the General Ledger

  • Calculate and enter month-end Journal Entries into QuickBooks

  • Reconcile General Ledger Accounts
